Flood Maps
Sea level rise is an important climate impact in Wales and globally. Worldwide 100 million people could be displaced by coastal flooding. The maps are based on the Google maps and the elevation data provided by NASA. All heights are from mean high water springs. Spring tides in Wales can be up to a metre above this average. A storm surge can push sea levels up to 4m on top of the expected level. Sea level is currently rising by 5mm per year. This application was developed by Alex Tingle.
